The Appointments Committee of Parliament has summoned Oliver Barker-Vormawor to appear before it on Wednesday, January 29, over allegations of bribery against members.
This comes after Mr. Barker-Vormawor alleged in a social media post that the chairman of the committee, Bernard Ahiafor, and members receive bribes from nominees before vetting and approving them.
He further asked the chairman to submit himself to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team for investigations.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, before a vetting process, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament categorically denied the allegations.
“Let me place on record that I am ever ready to submit myself to ORAL. Myself and the members do not demand money from any nominee before vetting and approval. I will therefore direct the clerk of this committee to invite Oliver Barker-Vormawor to appear before the committee tomorrow at 10 before 12 noon to provide evidence of the chairman or any member to back his claim.
“When he fails, then we can invoke the powers of the committee under Article 103 and our own Standing Order 134,” he said.
