Appetizer: Ham Cornets From Vienna

Attractive and easy-to-prepare appetizers are ham cornets filled with combinations of the favorite foods of the Viennese.

Recipe.

1 package (8 ounces) of cream cheese.

1 cup sour cream.

1 tablespoon freshly grated or prepared horseradish.

One-fourth cup minced chives.

Paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.

12 4-inch squares of thinly sliced boiled ham.

 

How To Prepare.

Combine the cheese, sour cream, horseradish, chives, paprika, salt, and pepper. Spread over the ham slices and roll into cornets or cone shapes. Fasten with toothpicks and chill. Sprinkle the tops with Paprika. Makes 12 servings.

 

Filling Variations

  1. Spread the ham slices with pork or liver pate and roll up. Decorate the open ends with slices of hard-cooked egg and sprinklings of parsley.

2. Saute chopped mushrooms in butter. Flavor with juice and nutmeg. Mix with sour cream. Garnish the tops with chopped fresh dill.
