The flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga has called on Ghanaians to position the APC as the third force in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Speaking at the unveiling of the party’s presidential running mate on Wednesday, September 4, Ayariga highlighted that despite over 70 million registered voters, actual voter turnout is often lower.
He noted that many voters are disillusioned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), presenting the APC as a viable alternative.
“Make us the third force because we are the third force for you,” Ayariga urged, emphasizing that the APC’s success hinges on public support.
Dr Ayariga addressed concerns about the effectiveness of voting for the APC, arguing that a vote for his party could disrupt the traditional two-party dominance and potentially lead to a second round of voting.
He suggested that if the APC advances to the second round, it could lead to a shift in power, as neither the NPP nor the NDC would endorse each other in such a scenario.
He concluded by asserting that a strong performance in the first round could set the stage for the APC to become the government of the day.
This comes after the APC officially outdoored Rev. Dr. Samuel Worlanyo Mensah as running for its flagbearer, Dr. Hassan Ayariga.
Rev. Dr. Mensah, who serves as the Head Pastor and Presiding Bishop of Christ White House Chapel in Ghana, was described by many as a man of integrity.
Dr Ayariga emphasised that his religious portfolio shows a commitment to a corruption-free administration.
