Any ballots publicly displayed will be rejected-NPP warns delegates
The New Patriotic Party has warned delegates not to display their ballot after voting in Saturday’s Special Delegates Conference.
According to the party, those who violate this provision shall be subjected to legal repercussions in accordance with the law.
A statement issued by the Presidential Election Committee on Thursday, August 24, said, “Delegates are hereby informed that any cast ballots publicly displayed will be rejected.”
It added that with the protocols put in place, it wants to reassure “all relevant parties, including stakeholders, delegates, aspirants, and the public, that with these guidelines in place, no individual can decipher the voting preferences and patterns of specific voters after the voting process concludes.”
Some 900 NPP delegates will vote on Saturday, August 26, to reduce the 10 presidential aspirants to five to contest the November 4, 2023 presidential primary.
The 10 candidates running for this crucial stage of the selection process include Ken Ohene Agyapong, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Joe Ghartey, Kwadwo Poku, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Francis Addai Nimoh, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, and Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
