Another landlord butchers tenant
A landlord at Manhean in the Greater Accra Region is in police grips after he allegedly butchered his tenant to death.
The suspect, Agyei Boye , who is in the custody of the Amasaman police, murdered Kofi Abu, 31-year-old after the deceased confronted him for abusing his two-year-old daughter.
Narrating the sad incident on Accra based Angel FM on Thursday, the wife of the deceased said the landlord pushed and stepped on her two-year-old daughter for crawling near his door.
She said her husband confronted the landlord over his actions on the toddler, which later generated into a scuffle.
According to her, the landlord overpowered the tenant and attacked him with a cutlass.
“The landlord stepped on my two-year-old daughter, who as crawling to his doorway. My husband confronted him on why he did that to the toddler and the landlord attacked him haphazardly with the cutlass and slashed every part of his body,” she recounted.
The wife added that in an attempt to intervene to stop the landlord from further butchering, her husband, she pounced on him, but the landlord slashed her head with the machete.
She said she screamed for help but no one came to their rescue until the landlord succeeded in killing her spouse.
“He later dragged my husband to a nearby kiosk and continued the attacks. I tried to stop him from attacking my husband and he slashed my head with the cutlass. I shouted for help, but no one could hear me,” she said.
Ofankor landlord shoots and kills tenant
A landlord at Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region in May 2020, shot and killed his tenant.
Victor Stephen Nana Kankam killed Spark Benjamin, a budding musician for failing to vacate the apartment which had been rented out to him.
According to the police, the deceased was rushed to the police station with multiple injuries. He was, however, rushed to the Police Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Ofankor District Commander, DSP George Asare, who visited the crime scene with his team, said they saw a pool of blood at the entrance of the deceased’s apartment.
Four spent shells were retrieved at the scene. Upon further checks in the suspect’s room, the police retrieved two pump action guns loaded with seven and eight rounds of cartridges each.
Some 32 live cartridges were also retrieved from the suspect’s room.
The suspect, Nana Kankam is currently standing trial at the Abeka District Court and is expected to reappear before the court on July 22, 2020.
Meanwhile, the deceased has been buried.
