AngloGold Ashanti wants to produce gold as much as 40,000 bags of 50Kg Ghana rice
AngloGold Ashanti has announced, it expects to produce a minimum of 2,000 tonnes of gold per day from its mine in Obuasi in the Ashanti region.
What this means is that the company is set to produce 2000 tonnes is equivalent to 40,000 bags of 50kg of Ghana rice.
Every year, about 350,000 to 400,000 ounces of gold to be produced for the first ten years.
This feat is as a result of its first pour of gold since it was suspended five years ago.
Anglogold, in a statement on Thursday, indicated the initial capital expenditure for the mine remains in the range of $495 million to $545 million.
“The company expects the rate to climb to 4,000 tonnes per day by the end of 2020, extracts of the statement highlights.
Expressing his excitement, Anglogold Ashanti Chief Executive Officer, Kelvin Dushnisky explained that producing first gold on budget and on a tight schedule is a significant achievement for the company.
“Restarting this important mine is a testament to the focused execution by our team on the ground, as well as the clear investment framework and supportive environment created by the President of Ghana and his government, and the King of Ashanti, ”
The statement goes on to say the refurbishment of an existing plant and construction of new infrastructure and underground development is in line with a new mine plan which according to the statement has taken place over the past 18 months.
