Anger, frustration consume stranded passengers as Kenya Airways cancels 52 flights in one month
Kenya Airways (KQ) has cancelled a number of trips that was supposed to set off since Saturday, 14th September, 2019, leaving hopeful passengers in distress.
The news of the cancellation was communicated to passengers of Kenya Airways Saturday evening, checks by The Ghana Report reveal.
It’s unclear the reason for the delay and cancellation but its telling effect is evident.
Reports gathered as the time The Ghana Report filed the report revealed that there have been series of complains with regards to issues of intentional overbookings by Kenya Airways.
Some passengers lamented bitterly about the challenge, highlighting the severe inconvenience they are enduring due to the actions of the airline.
The assistant Registrar of the University of Ghana, International Programmes Office, Daniel Hormeku disclosed to The Ghana Report, “We were due to travel to Nairobi on Saturday night on KQ, but the flight was delayed and later cancelled. ”
“We were brought to Mensvic since Saturday evening, whilst our reason for travelling to Nairobi to partake in a training is set to kick start on Monday, morning,” the stranded passenger told our reporter.
He further said the trip was cancelled again on Sunday night without prior notice so “we demanded our luggage and left, only to be picked by the hotel shuttle back to Mensvic. ”
In the last two months, the airline has faced a barrage of complaints from customers over frequent cancellations and flight delays.
Information gathered by The Ghana Report has revealed Kenya Airways cancelled more than 52 flights in the first eighteen (18) days of August and delayed 40% of its successful trips this year at an astronomical cost to passengers.
During flight delay or cancellation, Kenya Airways is expected to provide essential services such as accommodation, meals and ground transportation as the situation requires.
