Andre Ayew scores to secure first leg victory for Swansea in Championship playoff semi-final
Ghana captain Andre Ayew continued his impressive performance for Swansea City scoring a late goal to secure a first-leg advantage in the Championship play-off semi-final against Brentford on Sunday.
The match looked balanced in the first half as it ended in a scoreless draw.
Meanwhile, the second half saw the Swans dominating after Brentford were reduced to 10 men after Rico Henry was given his marching orders for a two-footed challenge on Connor Roberts resulting in a penalty awarded to Swansea.
Ayew failed to convert the spot-kick and had to make amends, which he did with a thunderous strike from inside the box into the roof on 82 minutes.
Ayew has scored eighteen goals in 46 appearances for Swansea City this season.
Brentford will host the Swans on Wednesday in the return leg to decide the winner of the other semi-final between Fulham and Cardiff.
