Allow Amidu to work freely – Politicians told
Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption (CMaC), Edem Senanu has urged political actors to stop interfering in the work of the Special Prosecutor (SP).
Politicians, according to, Mr. Senanu, have subtly tried to dictate to the SP, Mr. Martin Amidu, on how he should carry out his mandate.
Mr. Amidu in his latest epistle directed at the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said, he (the Special Prosecutor) is not a poodle of any political party.
Reacting to Mr. Amidu’s epistle, Mr. Senanu said Martin Amidu’s resolve to pursue the fight against corruption despite attacks by persons across the political divide was commendable and rather heartwarmin.
“I think it has become evident that people are taking him for granted and he has decided to speak up and do what is necessary.”
Mr. Senanu said the Special Prosecutor has rather been nice and cautious, trying to give enough time for the government and the presidency to understand that his office needed more support to get the institution running.
“I do not think the Special Prosecutor has been lamenting as many people seem to think. He has just been cautious with his words because we are approaching an election year, people should leave him to do his job,” he said.
