Alleged NDC thugs block GRA boss from entering his office

An irate group of alleged National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters staged a protest on Monday morning at the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) headquarters in Accra, opposing the appointment of Anthony Sarpong as the acting Commissioner-General.

This protest comes barely six days after President John Dramani Mahama announced the appointment of Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Senior Partner at KPMG, as the Acting Commissioner-General of GRA.

Mr. Sarpong’s vast financial management and corporate governance expertise is expected to bolster the GRA’s operations during this transitional period.

However, some concerned youth groups have described his appointment as inappropriate.

The demonstrators are demanding the immediate revocation of Mr. Sarpong’s appointment.

The aggrieved groups argue that entrusting such a key sector to someone perceived as politically opposed to the NDC could undermine the party’s influence in significant state institutions.
