Head of Department at the University of Ghana Department of Linguistics, Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly known as Opanyin Agyekum, has charged the security agencies to conitnue investigating the alleged coup plot.

The government through the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Monday issued a statement detailing how a joint security  operation of personnel drawn from Defense Intelligence, CID and BNI, conducted a successful operation which led to the arrest of three persons and the retrieval of several arms, explosive devices and ammunition from locations in Accra and Kpone-Bawaleshie in Dodowa.

The joint operation was to neutralize an elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency, and with the ultimate aim of destabilizing the country. The arrest and seizure come after 15 months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others.

The persons arrested were Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm and his two accomplices – Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC).

Commenting on this development on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show,  Opanyin Agyekum said, if indeed it was a coup plot, there will be more than three people involved, hence the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.

“ We have seen enough of military rule in this country and we should never wish to go back into that situation,” he noted.
