Alban Bagbin Succeeds Femi Gbajabiamila As Leader Of African Heads Of Parliaments

Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has been appointed as the new head of the Conference of Speakers and Heads of the African Parliaments (CoSAP).

Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Bagbin succeeds Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives.

Femi Gbajabiamila speaking at the handover ceremony at the National Assembly in Abuja said “The responsibility imposed on parliamentarians across the continent remained an obligation to seek problem-solving partnerships and adopt best practices from one another”.

“Lawmakers held the power to influence national discourse and frame public debates as representatives and advocates in national parliaments”.

“We must use this power to preach the message of African brotherhood and shape the worldview of our various people to achieve a common understanding of how deeply connected we all are”, he added.

He continued to say that “through CoSAP, we will continue to work together, doing all we can to achieve great things for our African homeland.”

Alban Bagbin in response to the task that has been given to him promised to do his best to ensure that the dream behind the formation of CoSAP is achieved.
