Akwatia substation fire caused Thursday’s blackout – GRIDCo to residents

The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has apologised to the residents of Akwatia, Oda, Kade, Asamankese and its environs for the disruption of power supply on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
GRIDCo, in a statement issued on May 31, 2024, explained that a fire incident at the Akwatia substation around 20:00 hrs on Thursday, May 30, 2024, caused the power outages in the aforementioned areas in the Eastern Region.
Meanwhile, the company assured residents that engineers are working quickly to resolve the fault and restore the power supply to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
“GRIDCo apologises for the inconveniences caused,” the statement added.
