The Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has denied reports claiming that he is seeking a meeting with President John Dramani Mahama to obtain assurances for the safe passage of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The clarification follows ongoing legal proceedings involving Mr Ofori-Atta and several anti-corruption agencies, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The agencies are investigating allegations that he caused financial loss to the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the former president’s office described the claims as false and misleading and urged the public to disregard them.
“The office wishes to state emphatically that this publication is utterly false. It is a total fabrication by the supposed source. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has neither contemplated such a consideration nor expressly or impliedly made any request or representation to President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement said.
The office reiterated that the former president remains a steadfast advocate of democratic principles and is committed to upholding the rule of law.
While acknowledging his concern for Mr Ofori-Atta due to familial ties and his service during the Akufo-Addo administration, the statement made clear that this concern does not extend to interfering with legal processes.
“Hopefully, this sets the record straight on the matter,” the statement concluded.
