Akufo-Addo to address nation as Covid-19 cases drop
President Nana Akufo-Addo will today,16th August, address the nation on the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus in the country.
His 15th televised address comes at a time when the country’s active Covid-19 cases have dropped significantly as reported by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
Ghana continues to make significant progress in its fight against the pandemic as the active cases last Thursday dropped to 1,906 from a previous 2,007 on Wednesday.
According to GHS, it follows the clinical recovery and discharge of a total of 39,718 persons.
In the President’s 14th address, among other things outlined measures taken to ensure the safety of final year SHS, JHS, and second-year Gold Track students who returned to school on Monday, June 22.
It eased restrictions, including the number of persons who could worship in churches and mosques and increased the time spent in churches from an hour to two.
Open-air pubs and the country’s tourist sites were allowed to reopen.
These addresses have been a major part of Ghana’s fight against Covid-19 since the first two cases were recorded on March 12th.
Meanwhile, there are indications that the country’s airports may be open to international traffic during the President’s address tonight.
Mr Baako said Ghana could open its airstrip for flights from countries across the globe as the authorities get a grip on the coronavirus which forced closure of all borders.
However, he was of the view that the land borders of the country will remain shut to human traffic except for goods.
Good Job 👍 Mr President but guidelines must continue.
