He called upon all citizens to actively contribute to these efforts by planting a seedling to achieve the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources’ ambitious target of 10 million annually.
The Minister of Lands, Samuel Abu Jinapor, also provided reassurance that the trees planted in previous editions of the Green Ghana project have thrived and are flourishing.

He encouraged Ghanaians to continue nurturing the existing trees and seize the opportunity to add 10 million more to the growing count.
The Forestry Commission has since made a variety of seedlings available, including timber species, shea trees, ornamental trees, fruit trees, and multi-purpose trees.
Ghanaians are observing Green Ghana Day, a significant event to restore the nation’s forest cover and combat deforestation.
This annual initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, emphasizes the importance of tree planting and environmental conservation.
The objective is to increase the country’s forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change, promote biodiversity, and ensure a healthier environment for present and future generations.
