President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central in the Eastern Region.

The businesswoman replaces Victoria Adu, whose appointment was revoked some months ago.

Adjoa Agyeiwaa’s appointment is in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

A letter signed by Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Minister-designate, Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, has subsequently requested the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council to liaise with the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct the confirmation process of the nominee.

The nominee has over 24 years of experience in business development, entrepreneurship, and wholesale distribution.

Adjoa Agyeiwaa is a member of the Akim Oda branch of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and is believed to be a party financier.

The nominee has worked closely with many party stalwarts in Akim Oda and supported the campaigns of the area’s former MPs.

Some of the NPP members she has supported include Yaw Osafo0 Maafo, now the senior presidential advisor; Yaw Owusu Boateng; William Agyapong Quaitoo; and the current MP, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, a deputy minister of health- designate.
