Akufo-Addo never changed, he stayed principled in office – Freddie Blay
Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for staying true to his principles throughout his political career, including his tenure as President.
Blay’s remarks counter claims from some sections of the public that the President’s character and priorities shifted after assuming office.
With President Akufo-Addo’s term ending in three days, he delivered his final State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, highlighting his administration’s achievements over the past eight years.
Freddie Blay, reflecting on the President’s legacy, dismissed allegations of inconsistency, asserting that Akufo-Addo remained steadfast in his values and commitments to the nation.
“I can’t speak for anybody, but I can speak for myself and some good friends of mine. I had the privilege of being a member of parliament, serving as the chairman of the NPP and I have personally made a contribution to him as a presidential candidate and later on as a president for eight years. I have no reason or so ever to have concluded that he has changed. I am sincere with you.
“The principle is that he has not deviated from the impression he gave eight years ago. On the contrary indeed, he has reinforced in me to belief that when you have confidence in some people you support them, and work with them.
“Tirelessly, the man has worked hard for three days from now when he will come to the end of an eight-year term of being the president of this country,” he stated.
