The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has revealed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved the reviewed salaries of its members.
JUSAG declared an indefinite strike in May 2023 due to the government’s failure to approve reviewed salaries and other allowances for its members.
The group also accused the government of consistently neglecting the conditions of service and other emoluments owed to its members for over 12 months.
Members later called off the strike and appealed to the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkonoo, to intervene.
In a press release dated July 17, 2023, the association said the intervention of the Chief Justice had yielded positive results.
“We are reassured by the letter of Her Ladyship Honourable Chief Justice dated July 13 2023, which confirms that His Excellency the President of Ghana has approved the new salary structure, and implementation will be done in the month of July 2023 as indicated by the Ministry of Finance at the close of engagement,” the statement said.
The group expressed gratitude to Her Ladyship for this feat and her commitment to the passage of a Judicial Service Regulation(Constitutional Instrument) into law.
They further praised the president, ministries and other agencies responsible for this achievement.
