Akufo-Addo confirms Herbert Krapa as Energy Minister

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Herbert Krapa as the substantive Minister of Energy.

He was previously appointed Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy in July 2024.

In a statement issued on November 20, 2024, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, said according to the president, Mr Krapa demonstrated exceptional diligence, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to his responsibilities as Minister of State.

These qualities, he said contributed to the progress and stability of Ghana’s energy sector.

“In recognition of his hard work and leadership, President Akufo-Addo is confident that Mr Krapa
will continue to distinguish himself in his new role, ensuring the continued growth and transformation of the energy sector in service to the nation,” the statement read.

His appointment follows the resignation of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who is now the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming 2024 elections.
