Outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed his hope that John Mahama’s incoming administration will prioritise and complete the Agenda 111 hospital projects, which are crucial for the country’s healthcare development.
In his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on January 3, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the importance of the Agenda 111 initiative, emphasising that it has been one of his administration’s key efforts to enhance the country’s healthcare system.
“The most important intervention is the Agenda 111 project that we have embarked upon. I am hoping that the incoming Mahama administration will ensure that the project is completed so we can have our health infrastructure in a sound state,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo noted that the hospitals are currently at various stages of development, with some still in the foundation phases while others are far advanced.
The Agenda 111 initiative, which spans 90 districts across the country, aims to address gaps in healthcare infrastructure, particularly in areas lacking adequate health facilities.
Despite challenges, President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the projects will be completed.
He highlighted the significant investments made and the improvement it would bring to the country’s healthcare sector.
However, he acknowledged that the initiative requires additional funding to continue the construction of the remaining hospitals.
