President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his good wishes to all Muslims on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, urging all citizens to embrace peaceful co-existence.
In a message posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, June 16, the President highlighted the significance of the day, which commemorates the steadfast faith and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
He emphasized the importance of devotion, compassion, and unity.
“As you gather with family and friends to mark this sacred day, may this day inspire us all to engender peace, love, and mutual respect within our communities,” President Akufo-Addo said.
He called on the citizenry to continue working together to build a prosperous and harmonious Ghana.
Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated by Muslims worldwide in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son out of faith in Allah.
The Quran cites this event as a profound demonstration of sacrifice and faith, which has become a permanent part of Muslim life.
The national celebration in Ghana took place at Independence Square in Accra, where Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was the Guest of Honour.
The event included prayers for the nation’s progress, unity, and sustainable growth.
