The Deputy Director of Communication at the Presidency, Mr. Kofi Baah Agyepong, has been appointed as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) by President Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Agyepong replaces Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, who resigned to contest as the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A letter dated 9 August 2022 and signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, said the appointment takes effect from 10 August 2022.
“Further to the resignation of Justin Kodua Frimpong as the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency and in accordance with Section 12(1) of the Youth Employment Agency Act, 2015 (Act 887), the President has appointed you to act as Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Agency, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” the appointment letter read.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation. Its objective is to support the youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years through skills training and internship modules to transit from a situation of unemployment to that of employment.
The agency oversees the development, coordination, supervision and facilitation of employment for the youth and related matters in Ghana.
