Akufo-Addo a better corruption fighter than Mahama – Nana Akomea
Despite the numerous corruption scandals that have hit the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, the party insists the canker can best be fought under an Akufo-Addo government than a John Mahama government.
A member of the NPP’s communications team, Nana Akomea who listed some scandals under the erstwhile Mahama administration maintained that the former President is not a changed man and must be rejected on December 7.
Nana Akomea made the statements at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
He said, while Mahama was named in the Airbus scandal in a direct manner, President Akufo-Addo cannot be linked to any direct act of corruption.
“By contrast, you cannot get President Akufo-Addo directly being indicted personally in such blatant corruption. The fight against corruption in the next four years is safer in President Akufo-Addo’s hand than in President Mahama’s hand,” he said.
Nana Akomea also accused John Mahama of making unrealistic promises due to desperation.
He says the NDC’s promise to absorb fees for tertiary students for the 2021 academic year proves that John Mahama isn’t a credible candidate.
“He told us in 2016 that we should beware of opposition because they don’t know the reality on the ground and make all kinds of promises. Today, he is in opposition, and he is making promises every day. Now, this is the leader who didn’t believe in freebies and said there was something wrong with the people who are promising freebies,” he added.
