Akpini Paramount Chief congratulates Prosper Bani; extends gratitude to Mahama

Paramount Chief of the Akpini Traditional Area, Okpekpewuokpe Akpinifia Dagadu IX, has extended his gratitude to President-Elect H.E. John Dramani Mahama for appointing a son of Kpando to head the Interim National Security Coordinating Team.

In a statement issued by the Paramountcy of the Akpini Traditional Area, Akpinifia Dagadu IX congratulated his son on the appointment while expressing praise for President-elect John Mahama for recognising an illustrious son of his land.

“An appointment to such a sensitive position shows clearly the level of trust and confidence in his abilities, ”Akpinifia Dagadu IX stated and added that “we have every confidence in the abilities of Hon. Prosperous Bani to provide effective and efficient leadership”.

Togbui Dagadu IX also reminded the President of other illustrious people from Kpando and the Volta Region who are capable and poised to serve in the government of H.E. John Mahama.

He was hopeful of development for his people and the entire Volta region as Mr Mahama takes a second spell in managing the affairs of the country for the next presidential term.

President-elect John Mahama recently set up a six-member team to supervise and coordinate all national security matters until substantive appointments after his inauguration.

The team consists of past security chiefs with many years of expertise and experience and will be led by former Minister for the Interior, Prosper Bani.

Other members are Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay, a retired Chief of Defence Staff; Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a former Minister for National Security; Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, a former National Security Coordinator; Brigadier General (Rtd) Fuseini Iddrissu; and Commissioner of Police (Rtd) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye.

A press release by Special Aide, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the decision reflects the President-Elect’s commitment to ensuring continuity and stability in the country’s security architecture during the transfer of power.
