Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus set for UCL return against Besiktas

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus is expected to return to the UEFA Champions League stage after being included in the squad to face Turkish giants Besiktas tonight at the Johan Cryuff Arena.

A fortnight ago, the 21-year-old missed Ajax’s 5-1 win in the UEFA Champions League group opener against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and is hoping to make a huge statement in the competition this season.

He is expected to make the squad this evening, although he could start from the bench as he warms his way back in the starting eleven.

Kudus was sidelined at the start of the season due to injury but has fully recovered and already made two Dutch Eredivisie appearances this season, scoring a goal.

The ex-FC Nordsjaelland player is a key member of manager Erik Ten Haag’s side and will play a vital role in the club’s success this season.

Mohammed Kudus joined Ajax in the summer of 2020 but suffered his first major injury on his UEFA Champions League debut against Liverpool.

He later returned strongly to help Ajax win the Dutch League and Cup double in the previous season and was also named the best U-21 player in Holland.
