Chinese galamsey queen, En Huang, popularly known as Aisha Huang, has been convicted by an Accra High Court.

This was after she changed her not-guilty plea to a guilty plea on a charge of entering the country illegally while prohibited from entry.

The Criminal Division of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, convicted Aisha after she entered a Plea Bargaining agreement with the state.

The sentencing of Aisha will be deferred until the end of the trial for the remaining three charges of undertaking a mining operation without a licence, facilitating the participation of persons engaged in a mining operation, and illegal employment of foreigners.

It will be recalled that the accused was charged on September 16, 2022, with these four counts.

Meanwhile, the prosecution has closed its case after calling 11 witnesses, and the defence has been ordered to file its submission of no case by May 16.

The prosecution has been given until May 24 to respond, and the case has been adjourned to May 25, 2023.

Aisha has been in the news for her involvement in illegal mining activities, which led to her arrest and subsequent legal battles.

She has been dubbed the “galamsey queen” for her alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in Ghana.
