Agradaa ordered to open defence in prophet’s nude photo case

Jailed evangelist and founder of Heaven Way Champions International Ministry, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been ordered by the High Court to open her defence in a case involving the alleged non-consensual sharing of nude images belonging to a prophet.

The court’s presiding judge, Mary Ekue Yanzuh, on Monday, July 7, 2025, dismissed Agradaa’s submission of no case and directed her legal team to begin the defence process.

Although her lawyers pleaded for an adjournment so Agradaa could be present, the ruling was delivered in her absence.

Lawyer Richard Baffour requested that prison authorities be ordered to bring Agradaa to court, saying, “My prayer is that your ruling can be delivered in her presence. We pray for an adjournment and an order for her to be brought to court”.

The court also instructed the defence team to file their witness statements while ordering prison officers to ensure Agradaa is present for the next hearing, set for July 30.

Agradaa faces charges including possession of obscene material and three counts of distributing intimate images without consent. Three others, also charged with abetment of the crime, are expected to mount their defence as well.

Prosecutors allege that in 2021, Agradaa used her television platform to publicly display nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum, even converting one into a product label for a commercial beverage.

She was previously sentenced to 15 years in hard labour for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, with an additional fine of 300 cedis.
