Afua Asantewaa completes 121-Hour Singing Marathon in second Guinness World Record attempt

Ghanaian media personality, Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum has concluded her five days second attempt to set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual, clocking 121 hours and 39 minutes.

The marathon took place at the Heroes’ Park at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

It started at dawn on December 21 and ended on December 25, 2024.

The 34-year-old singer performed over 200 Ghanaian songs spanning gospel, highlife, afrobeat, and hiplife genres, in a remarkable showcase of stamina and cultural pride.

Speaking after the event, Afua Asantewaa expressed satisfaction with the feat. “I want to again say I am fulfilled; considering the fact that I succeeded in promoting Ghanaian songs,” she said.

She acknowledged her dedicated team, saying, “Of course my team comprising Gladys Osei Owiredu (manager), Kofi Owusu Aduonum (husband and Head of PR), Fredrick Fosu, Kelvin Abban (Creatives) and Isaac Amponsah (Operations).

This marks her second attempt at the record, following a 2023 effort with 126 hours of singing but did not qualify to beat the existing record of 105 hours set by India’s Sunil Waghmare.

Undeterred by her previous setback, Afua Asantewaa remains optimistic about the final outcome of this attempt
