African Games 2023: Legon Stadium to be handed over after July
Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2023 African Games Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare has revealed that some key facilities designated for the hosting of the games are close to completion.
Ghana will host the 2023 Africa games in 2024 from March 8 to March 24 as a result of a postponement due to an impasse over marketing rights involving the competition’s major stakeholders as well as a lack of readiness of the key facilities.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports Chairman of the LOC Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare gave assurance that the facilities will be finished on time.
“At Legon they are supposed to hand over the facilities to us by the end of July but the last meeting the contractors were pushing for a bit of an extension of time” he said
“With Borteyman at most by December they should also hand the facilities to us so we are working towards these timelines.
Things are coming up very fast”.
“Hopefully we will have them handed to us for us to at least have a two month period to do the trials ideally it should be six months but under the circumstances we’re not likely to have that” he added
