Afena-Gyan leads attack as Otto Addo names strong Ghana XI to face Nigeria

Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has named a strong starting eleven to face Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff.

It is the first game in charge of the senior team for the Germany-based tactician who was appointed interim head coach for the Black Stars following the sacking of Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac.

This was after Ghana’s disastrous campaign at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Otto Addo has blended experience with youth as he hopes for a positive result as he comes up against a star-studded Nigeria side tipped as favourites to win the playoff tie.

Goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott has been picked as the safest pair in the post. He will be supported by a back four formation of Alexander Djiku, Daniel Amartey, Denis Odoi, and Gideon Mensah.

Talisman and captain of the side, Thomas Partey, has been given a huge midfield role and is set to play with Iddrisu Baba and Mohammed Kudus.

In attack, AS Roma wonderkid Felix Afena-Gyan has been given the leading role to spearhead the forward line.
