Afcon U20: Ghana beat Uganda to claim 4th title

Abdul Karim Zito’s Black Satellites delivered the perfect Independence Day celebration present, as they beat The Cranes of Uganda 2-0 to win Ghana’s fourth U-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Mauritania courtesy.

Captain Daniel Afriyie Barnie struck twice to clinch the title for the Satellites.

The opening 15 minutes of the encounter was fairly balanced as both sides cancelled out the attacking threats of each other in Nouakchott.

On the 21st minute mark of the first half, Daniel Barnieh capitalized on some poor marking from Uganda as he poked in from close range, breaking the deadlock in the final game of the competition.

Both teams entered the tunnel with the Black Satellites with a 1-goal advantage despite a balanced game with Ghana, more lively and threatening at every attack.

Six minutes after recess, the skipper, Daniel Barnieh tucked home close range to double Ghana’s advantage, taking advantage of a pass by Percious Boah after a swift counter attack.

The Black Satellites kept their composure at the back despite the Ugandans coming at the on some occasions, keeping their fourth clean sheet of the tournament.

The victory is Ghana’s fourth in the competition’s history, after previous triumphs in 1993, 1999 and 2009
