Adom TV’s Nana Yaa Brefo resigns from Multimedia
Nana Yaa Brefo, a television show host at Adom TV, has resigned from Accra-based Multimedia Group Limited.
The tsunami of termination of contracts between Multimedia and some staff continues as the co-host of ‘Badwam’ announced her decision on Sunday morning.
“I want to say a big THANK YOU to MultiMedia and my colleagues,” she posted on her Instagram page. “I bow out of multimedia to follow other dreams. Thank you all for being there”.
The vocal presenter also thanked her followers and “those who did not like me, you made me grow during my 10 years’ stay at Multimedia, (Adom TV )”.
The reason for her resignation is not immediately known.
However, there are speculations that she was forced to take that path following an interview with actress Nana Ama McBrown over the death of Kumawood actor, Bishop Bernard Nyarko.
She had asked McBrown about her ties to the deceased, including having his personal phone number, and whether she (McBrown) would attend the burial of the late actor.
Several commentators on social media found the line of questioning unprofessional.
Her resignation comes less than a year after Afia Pokuaa (Vim Lady), another key staff of Adom, switched camp to join fierce competitors UTV, which is owned by the Despite Group of Companies.
Several personalities have resigned from Multimedia in the past few months.
Entertainment journalist, MzGee, also resigned in 2019 while actress and radio personality, Naa Ashorkor, had her contract terminated on May 5, 2020.
Adom FM editor Samuel Nii Dowuona also left the station in May after serving for more than a decade.
Jerry Mordy and George Nyavor who were senior online journalists at Multimedia, were also issued dismissal letters in May.
