Adom-Otchere still in custody after failing to meet bail conditions
Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), is still detained after failing to meet the bail conditions set by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), despite having been officially granted bail.
Mr. Adom-Otchere, along with two co-accused, Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, the Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, faces charges from the OSP related to an investigation into a revenue assurance contract at GACL.
The trio were detained by the OSP on July 31, 2025.
The investigation is centred around alleged procurement irregularities, particularly concerning the award of a sole-sourced contract to a private firm that is reportedly linked to the owner of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
According to the OSP, it is examining whether the contract was awarded without obtaining proper approval from the Board and if it breached procurement guidelines.
Although Mr. Adom-Otchere was granted bail, he has not been able to meet a crucial requirement: presenting two landed properties registered in his name.
He has informed the OSP that he does not possess any such properties in Ghana, which has resulted in his continued detention until alternative arrangements can be established or the bail conditions are fulfilled.
The two other defendants are reportedly assisting with the ongoing investigation, though their status regarding detention has not been officially revealed.
This case has generated significant public interest due to Mr. Adom-Otchere’s prior position at GACL and his notable presence in the media.
