The Adisadel College student who was captured on tape assaulting his colleague has been granted GH¢10k bail by the Cape Coast District Court.
He is expected to reappear before the Juvenile Court on Wednesday, August 2.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, July 26, on charges of causing harm and assault.
In the disturbing 30 seconds video, a student is seen choking another student from behind.
The tall student then forcefully slams the topless boy’s head onto the edge of a metal bunk bed, prompting voices off-camera to urge him to let go due to the evident harm caused.
After being released, the boy is seen with severe swelling on his face.
The video of the assault has since sparked widespread concern and outrage among parents, students, and the general public. Many are questioning the safety and security of students within educational institutions.
In the case of the victim, he has been recalled to the school after initially being suspended. The school is taking measures to ensure his well-being and recovery.
He is currently undergoing medical treatment, and the school has assigned a psychologist to provide him with the necessary counseling to help him through the trauma.
Meanwhile, Adisadel College has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a safe learning environment for all students and has vowed to take firm action against any form of violence or misconduct.
