A devastating accident involving three long trucks from Burkina Faso brought traffic to a grinding halt on the Accra-Kumasi highway, specifically on the Nkawkaw new road.

The collision, which occurred on the busy highway, left hundreds of passengers and drivers stranded for over five hours.

As the standoff persisted, frustrated passengers and motorists took to the media to express their discontent.

Many called on the government to consider establishing a railway connection between Accra and Burkina Faso, citing the potential benefits of reduced road accidents caused by heavy-duty vehicles.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident highlighted the dangers posed by long trucks on Ghana’s roads.

The proposed railway connection, they argued, would provide a safer and more efficient alternative for Burkinabe truck drivers, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents and easing congestion on the country’s highways.
