Accra Circuit Court grants Wanlov the Kubolor GHC50k bail in fraud case
Musician Wanlov the Kubolor, known offstage as Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, has been granted GHC50,000 bail after being charged with defrauding by false pretence.
He appeared before the Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge brought under Section 131(1) of Act 29.
The court, presided over by His Honour Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah, ordered that one surety accompany the bail.
Court filings state that the case involves a US$4,500 payment allegedly made by Jemima Azizaa Abotsigah between April and May 2025.
Prosecutors say the money was advanced for the production of a music video that was never completed.
Chief Inspector Belinda Asante informed the court that Jemima had earlier agreed with the musician on a full production fee of US$10,000, paying part in advance.
Police indicate that after taking the payment, Wanlov did not execute the project, and the complainant’s efforts to recover the funds failed, prompting her to seek police intervention.
During investigations, the accused reportedly admitted receiving the money but maintained that it was provided as assistance, not as payment for a video. He was arrested on October 28, 2025.
The case is scheduled to continue on January 29, 2025.
