Absconded Nigerian who tested positive for COVID-19 in Upper West Region found
The 46-year-old absconded Nigerian who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Upper West Region has been apprehended.
The Upper West Regional Police Command said it has located the whereabouts of Simon Okafor Chukudi and he would be sent to the hospital.
In the early hours of Thursday, there were reports that Mr Chukudi, who tested positive for COVID-19, had bolted on his way to the hospital after his result was announced to him.
He had instructed the health workers to take the lead to the hospital while he followed on his motorcycle.
But Mr Chukudi disappeared.
He is among the seven persons who had so far tested positive for the virus in the region.
He also happens to be one of the region’s imported cases of COVID-19.
Nigerian who tested positive for COVID-19 in Upper West absconds
Ghana’s coronavirus case count as of April 15, 2020, stood at 641.
The breakdown of the 641 cases are as follows: 17 have been treated, reverted to negative on repeat tests and discharged.
Also, 66 have tested negative once and awaiting the second test, bringing the together a total of 83 cases that have recovered or discharged.
Out of the 641 cases, 548 cases have been categorised as mild disease and are on treatment while two are categorized as moderate to severe cases, none in the critical state currently and eight have died.
Regions that have reported cases are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Western, Volta, Northern, North East, Upper East, and Upper West.

Wa COVID-19 Escapee Apprehended
Simon Okafor Chukwudi, the Nigerian national who has tested positive but absconded from Wapaani where he was expected to be isolating in his home has been apprehended today, April 17, 2020 at Kpongu, also a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region, after vigorous manhunt.
Seven others, believed to have had contacts with him have also been identified and moved to the Wa Regional Hospital where they have been quarantined for observation.
Simon Okafor Chukwudi, 46 was informed of his positive status by health officials on April 13, 2020 and was told to self-isolate in his home, until further notice but he left the house without a trace until he was apprehended today.
