Abronye remanded in police custody again for one more week

The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been remanded into police custody for an additional week by the Accra Circuit Court.

This decision is intended to allow the police to conduct further investigations related to the charges against him.

He faces one charge of publishing false news and one count of offensive conduct that could lead to a breach of peace.

He was initially remanded on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, during his first court appearance concerning these charges.

Abronye has been accused of claiming on a television platform that all strategic meetings held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Akwatia included the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Furthermore, he is alleged to have said that the current IGP, Tetteh Yohuno, is the “most corrupt” IGP in the history of the country.

Despite these accusations, he has pleaded not guilty.
