President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the reconstitution of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Company Limited board.

In a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, on Monday, March 18, the president named Leon Kendon Appenteng as the new Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Kofi Mocumbi Tagoe has also been nominated as the managing director of the company.

Other members appointed to the board include Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, Edith Sapara-Grant, Nana Akua Bakoma Prempeh, Lorraine Crabbe Ababio, and Joseph Mensah Browne.

The rest are Alfred George Thompson, Paul Kwaku Kyei Ofori, and Herbert Ato Morrison.

It will be recalled that in August 2023, the then Managing Director of TOR, Jerry Kofi Hinson, resigned from his position, citing health grounds.

TOR is Ghana’s premier oil refinery.

With its ideal refinery configuration and sufficient storage tank capacity, it is among the best refineries in Africa and supports the country’s economic growth and investment initiatives.

However, the refinery’s operational capacity has reduced over the years, with its debt exceeding US$400 million.

In January this year, the General Transport and Petroleum Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU) accused the Board of Directors of TOR of mismanagement.

Below is a letter from the Presidency.
