Abalora dropped as Barreto names Kotoko squad for WAFA tie
Black Stars goalkeeper Razak Abalora has been left out of Asante Kotoko’s 18- man squad announced to face WAFA in Saturday’s Ghana Premier League clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
The exclusion of Abalora, Kotoko’s safest pair of hands in the goal post this season, means Coach Mariano Barreto has reinstated team captain Felix Annan.
It is not clear who starts on Saturday as both Felix Annan and Kwame Baah were named.
Any of them who gets the opportunity to start must stake a claim to take over the number one spot.
No reasons have been assigned for Abalora’s exclusion from the squad, but it seems the action is a result of the player being criticized by fans of the club for failing to live up to expectations in recent games.
The recent being a blunder he committed resulted in struggling Liberty Professionals as Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw in Sogakope.
Also joining Abalora is Brazilian forward Michael Vinicius, who was also excluded from the squad.
Kotoko will remain top of the league with victory at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
