Anniversary of murdered Suale: Family banks hopes for justice on Judgment Day
The family of slain investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein Suale has lamented the failure of the state to seek justice for their relative.
A year after the investigative journalist with Tiger Eye PI was murdered, no arrests have been made.
Speaking on Starr FM, uncle of the deceased said they are trusting in Allah to give them justice.
“For us as Muslims, if we don’t get justice for our nephew here, I know in the hereafter, we’ll get justice for him. If we don’t get justice for him here on earth, I know definitely Allah will give us justice at the end of the day” he said.
He continued saying “but I know very well that Allah is a merciful one, he’s magnificent, he knows what is happening and we’re praying that we get justice here and get justice in the hereafter”.
Hussein-Suale was shot and killed by some unidentified men on a motorbike on the night of January 16, 2019, at Madina in Accra while driving home.
According to police, the journalist was shot in the neck and chest by his murderers.
He was a member of a group of investigators led by ace investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas to uncover corruption in Ghana’s football association.
The undercover investigations titled ‘Number 12’ led to the resignation of the then President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The world football federation, FIFA subsequently placed a lifetime ban on Mr. Nyantakyi after it found him guilty of flouting the rules and regulations governing the association.
Dozens of football referees and officials in several countries were also banned as a result of the investigation, including the Nigerian national team coach, Salisu Yusuf, for receiving cash from undercover journalists posing as agents.
Prior to his death, Ahmed Hussein-Suale made a complaint to police after a Ghanaian politician Kennedy Agyapong circulated his pictures in an appearance on NET 2 TV ahead of the screening of ‘who watches the watchman’ anti-Anas video
documentary.
The Assin Central MP also showed some pictures he claimed were that of the undercover investigative journalist in the ‘Number 12’, expose Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
On a programme on Net 2 TV which is owned by the MP, he called on the public to assault Ahmed and promised to bear any financial consequences arising thereof.
