A/R: Three highway robbers jailed 20 years each

Three armed robbers who assaulted and stole from travellers on the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta road have each received a 20-year prison sentence.

The Bekwai Circuit Court, under the authority of His Honour Mr. Appiatu, issued the sentences to Peter Boadi (also known as Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso on October 27, 2025, after they were found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

The group attacked their victims at Fiankoma near Jacobu on April 29, 2024, stealing two iPhones and GH₵7,000 in cash.

They also compelled one of the victims, a Chinese national, to transfer GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.

The police apprehended the suspects between June and September 2024 through intelligence-led operations.

A search conducted at Boadi’s residence in Obuasi Bogobiri revealed a foreign Bruni pistol, a locally manufactured pistol, and ammunition, which were collected as evidence.

The Ghana Police Service applauded its investigative team for its professionalism and reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that offenders are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
