Security analyst, Adam Bona has charged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to crack the whip on officers who allegedly beat and butchered a 36-year-old driver at Adomfe in the Ashanti region.

About nine police officers stormed the area Tuesday evening and reportedly beat the bus driver and butchered him, causing his death shortly after the incident.

This, according to Adam Bona is worrying. Speaking in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report, Mr. Bona said the IGP must interdict the said officers as soon as possible.

“It’s worrying the times we find ourselves and therefore I’m expecting the IGP to crack the whip, interdict them as soon as possible and make sure full investigations are conducted. If they’re found guilty, they should be punished severely,” he said.

Residents say  about seven police officers with three in uniform, stormed the area for an operation and had an altercation with the deceased, restrained him to the ground, kicked and punched him in the face before some of the officers started butchering him with a machete.

Assemblyman for the area, Samuel Kofi Boadu said the policemen who were on patrol, searched for one Mr Kamkam and another Yaa Yaa who live in the area.

Since they were unable to find the people they were after, they ransacked their homes and did not find anything as well.

“When they were returning from the girl’s place, they met two guys on the street and they just grabbed them. And one of them was asking what he had done, in trying to explain, they started beating him up, and one of the officers went to the patrol vehicle and took a cutlass and cut his back very deeply,” he said.

“After cutting the person, those around started approaching the police, and upon realizing that the mob was increasing they started giving out warning shots, about 7-8 shots, then they put the victims in to the car and sped off,” he stated .
