A/R: GMA condemns attack on Chairman’s residence
The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has strongly condemned attacks on the regional chairman, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo and his family.
In a statement issued on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the GMA Ashanti Division described the incident as a “wicked and callous act” that jeopardised the safety of Dr. Baidoo’s family.
The statement revealed that at approximately 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, unknown individuals trespassed onto Dr. Baidoo’s property and vandalised a large tree in the yard.
The statement added that the tree subsequently collapsed onto the house, damaging the roof and several personal belongings, while trapping the doctor’s wife and son inside.
The GMA has called for an immediate investigation into the matter, demanding the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible and compensation for Dr. Baidoo’s family for the damages and emotional distress incurred.
Additionally, the association requested police protection for the chairman and his family during the ongoing investigation.
“In the interim, the members of the Division demand the provision of Police protection for our Chairman and his family as investigations continue. As a law-abiding Association, we resolve to give our able Police enough time and space for them to work to apprehend the culprits,” the statement added.
