NDC Polls: Vote-buying allegations will not be ignored – Tanko-Computer

The Deputy Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rashid Tanko-Computer, says the party will investigate allegations of vote-buying in its ongoing constituency executive elections if credible evidence is presented to the national executives.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Tanko-Computer stressed that the party would not tolerate any conduct that undermines the fairness and credibility of its internal electoral process.

He urged anyone with evidence of vote-buying to report the matter to the party’s national leadership for the necessary action.

“If somebody has any evidence of that and it’s brought to the notice of the national executives, why not? We’ll take notice of it,” he said.

Mr Tanko-Computer pointed to the party’s response to a previous incident involving Ayawaso as an example of its willingness to address such concerns.

However, he said the party had not observed any cases of vote-buying in the areas where the elections had been held so far. He described the exercise as largely peaceful and successful, despite some challenges in certain constituencies.

One of the affected areas was Odododiodioo in the Greater Accra Region, where the sorting and counting of ballot papers were suspended following violence shortly after voting ended.

According to Mr Tanko-Computer, the situation was later addressed after party officials intervened, allowing the process to resume.

He also disclosed that elections in some constituencies in the Ashanti and Eastern regions had been postponed until the following day to give the party time to resolve outstanding issues.

The NDC is holding the constituency executive elections as part of its efforts to reorganise its grassroots structures and strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
