100%, I am sure — Carrick backs himself to revive Man United

Michael Carrick has insisted he is the right man to lead Manchester United back to their best, despite admitting that the club has lost its way following a disappointing performance against Como.

Carrick addressed supporters before taking questions from the media, acknowledging that the display against the Italian side fell below the standards expected at Old Trafford.

“The game against Como was bad. This is not acceptable for Manchester United. We have lost our way a bit, to be honest,” he said.

Despite the setback, the United boss expressed confidence that the team could rediscover its form, insisting that he had no doubts about his ability to lead the recovery.

“Am I the right man? 100%, I am sure,” Carrick declared.

He also emphasised that Manchester United must always come before any individual, including the manager and players, pointing to the legacy of former managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby.

Carrick said the club must preserve the resilience and winning mentality established during their successful years, adding that he would not allow those values to disappear.

The former midfielder further dismissed suggestions of divisions within the dressing room, insisting that the squad remained united and needed to focus on humility, hard work and consistency.

“I am confident we will be back. We’ll get back to the level we show in the first five months,” he said.

Carrick also pledged to take responsibility for protecting his players from external pressure, stressing that he was prepared to shoulder the burden as the club works to recover its form.

“I am ready, I am confident, otherwise I wasn’t here,” he added.
