An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 38-year-old driver into police custody over allegations that he offered 70 tablets of suspected unregistered Royal Tapentadol 250 mg for sale.
Fatawu Yakubu, a resident of Lapaz in Accra, has been charged with offering unregistered drugs for sale.
According to the prosecution, the complainants are police officers attached to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
The court did not take his plea, and he is expected to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The prosecution said the officers conducted an operation at Nii Bio Town Junction in Lapaz on October 15, 2026, at about 1400 hours to clamp down on illicit drug peddlers and users.
During the operation, Yakubu was arrested at a game centre.
A search conducted on him allegedly uncovered 70 tablets of suspected unregistered Royal Tapentadol 250 mg.
The prosecution added that the exhibits were being forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis and a report.
