FIFA suspends Egypt coach Hossam over World Cup gestures

FIFA has reportedly suspended Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan over gestures he made during the team’s defeat to Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Hassan has been handed a three-match suspension following the 3-2 defeat in the World Cup round of 16. His twin brother, Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt’s national team director, has also received a three-match ban, while forward Mostafa Zico has been suspended for five matches.

The sanctions follow criticism of the match officials after Egypt’s elimination. The Egyptian Football Association has requested detailed explanations from FIFA and is considering whether to appeal the decisions.
