Ghanaian musician Manifest says he has moved away from wearing African prints regularly, explaining that his fashion preferences have evolved over the years.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the musician said his “heavy print era” was about 12 years ago, adding that he now prefers to explore the diverse styles offered by Ghanaian and other African designers.
According to Manifest, fashion does not have to revolve around African prints, particularly when local designers are creating a wide range of clothing styles.
He also questioned the need to look beyond the continent for fashion, arguing that many prints sold in Ghana are sourced from China or the Netherlands.
“I would rather support the designer from Ghana and Africa than look elsewhere,” he said.
Manifest’s comments highlight his preference for supporting local and continental fashion designers while embracing the diversity of contemporary African fashion.
